Scrolls

Scrolls are single use items that will cast a bound spell when used. A creature wishing to use a scroll must know how to read by having learned the Literacy: Common talent.

Scrolls have a power level, or mastery modifier, that ranges from 0 to 5 and determines how powerful the scrolls' effects are. Regular scrolls have a mastery modifier of 0 or 1, adept's scrolls have a mastery modifier of 2 or 3, and master's scrolls have a mastery modifier of 4 or 5.

Some of the following scroll descriptions use X instead of (mastery modifier or 1, whichever is higher). For example, if an effect's duration is XD6 x 10 turns and the mastery modifier is 0, the effect lasts for 1D6 x 10 turns.

Scroll of Aggravation

    Aggravates all creatures in the current level.

Scroll of Amnesia

    Causes the caster to forget a random knowledge.

Scroll of Animation

    Permanently turns a dead human into an undead familiar.

Scroll of Banishment

    Casts Banish Daemon on all daemons within line of sight (ignores level modifiers).

Scroll of Blessing

    Removes all curse effects from the target creature, location, or an item.

Scroll of Darkness

    Blinds the caster for XD6 x 10 turns.

Scroll of Detection

    Reveals all hidden map objects to the caster.

Scroll of Dislocation

    Teleports the target creature to a random location.

Scroll of Dispel

    Removes all magical effects from the target creature, location, or an item.

Scroll of Enchanting

    Enchants the targeted item in the caster's inventory with a random enchant.

Scroll of Identify

    Identifies the targeted item in the caster's inventory.

Scroll of Invisibility

    Turns the target creature invisible for XD6 x 10 turns.

Scroll of Knowledge

    Teaches the caster a random knowledge.

Scroll of Levitation

    Levitates the target creature for XD6 x 10 turns.

Scroll of Light

    Turns on all light sources in the current level.

Scroll of Polymorph

    Polymorphs the target creature into a giant rat for XD6 turns.

Scroll of Recharging

    Adds X charges to the targeted wand in the caster's inventory.

Scroll of Summoning

    Summons a daemon at the target location and enslaves it for (D6 + X) x 10 turns.

Scroll of Teleport

    Teleports the caster to the target location within line of sight.

Scroll of Turning

    Casts Turn Undead on all undeads within line of sight (ignores level modifiers).
