Armours

Armour reduces physical damage taken by a number equal to the physical resistance value of the armour plus wearer's agility bonus modifier when the wearer is capable of dodging an attack. This 'dodge modifier' normally ranges from +1 to +5, but wearing almost any kind of armour makes it harder to dodge an attack, and it may be capped to a lower level than the wearer's dodge modifier is.

Note that armour only protects against normal hits and helmets only protect against critical hits. This, however, does not apply to enchants, which provide bonuses against all hits regardless of their placement.

Armour also interferes spellcasting by causing excess strain and affecting the wearer's stamina bonus modifier which is used to cast many offensive spells. This 'cast modifier' normally ranges from +1 to +5, but wearing armour may cap it to a lower level than the wearer's cast modifier is.

Wearing heavy armour makes it harder to perform certain actions. Weight modifier is a penalty which is applied to Climb, Jump, Sneak and Swim checks.

When an attack causes more damage than the physical resistance of an armour is, the armour itself can be damaged and has to take a durability check to see if it can shrug off the damage, or be damaged (or broken if it was already damaged). Armour durability check uses the following formula:
