Edibles

Food and water is required to manage hunger and thirst. Each edible item has a hunger regen value, thirst regen value, or both. When an edible item is consumed, these values are calculated and they increase the creature's hunger and thirst counters accordingly (see Hunger & Thirst).

Instead of having a chance of being blessed or cursed, edible items have a chance of being fresh or rotten.

Fresh items set the hunger and thirst counters to the maximum values of the resulting hunger and thirst levels after adding the regen values to the counters (maximum gain for a counter is 359 points if counter % 360 is 0).

Rotten items reduce the hunger and thirst regen values from the creature's hunger and thirst counters instead of adding them.
